MigraTouriSpace @ Ernst-Reuter-Platz

11.-18.09.2020
Bauhaus RE:USE

For Berlin Art Week and the start of the 40th Congress of the German Sociological Association (DGS) in 2020, the bauhaus reuse pavilion on Berlin’s Ernst-Reuter-Platz transformed into a temporary art installation. The 2020 DGS Congress ‘Society under Tension’ did not take place on site at TU Berlin as planned due to coronavirus, but exclusively digitally.

To mark the occasion, the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 1265 Re-Figuration of Spaces at TU Berlin created a visual statement in public space with the art installation, thus creating a ‘space’ for the DGS congress in digital times.

From 11 to 18 September 2020, a surrounding picture installation by artist Stefanie Bürkle will be on display on the outside of the bauhaus reuse pavilion. Two series of images provide a first insight into the current art and research project ‘MIGRATOURISPACE, spatial migration and tourism’, which deals with travelling as an approach to the phenomena of migration and tourism. The project is about travelling images, people and spaces. The series of images integrates motifs from Korea, Berlin and China into the public space. This creates new spatial pictorial overlays between the pictures, the Bauhaus Glass Pavilion and Ernst-Reuter-Platz.
