Call for Papers: Mixed Methods Research for Socio-Spatial Studies (JMMR)

15. April 2025

Mixed methods research has gained significant traction in the social sciences, yet it often remains confined within disciplinary boundaries. This Call for Papers for a special issue of the Journal of Mixed Methods Research (JMMR) picks up on recent developments and invites contributions that systematically connect mixed methods approaches with spatial theory. The aim is to explore socio-spatial phenomena—ranging from mobilities to inequalities to materialities—through interdisciplinary perspectives, while critically reflecting on both methodological challenges and potentials.

SFB 1265 researchers Vivien Sommer, Daniela Stoltenberg (B05) and Ludovica Tomarchio welcome contributions that develop innovative quantitative and qualitative methods in the context of spatial research. We invite empirical studies, theoretical reflections, and methodological contributions. This call is aimed at researchers who understand space as a central element of social processes.

Submissions will be accepted until February 28, 2026.
