Fraya Frehse is Professor of Sociology at Universidade de São Paulo, where she coordinates the Núcleo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Sociologia do Espaço e do Tempo, a centre for studies and research on the sociology of space and time. Alumna of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation as of 2010, she was a visiting fellow at Oxford University, at the École de Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales, at Freie Universität Berlin (Chair “Sérgio Buarque de Holanda” for Brazilian Studies), at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin, at Technische Universität Darmstadt and at the Université Paris Diderot, and held the Visiting Chair in Brazilian Studies at Freie Universität Berlin.
