Infrastructure Walk

23. November 2023

Programm

This walk will focus on the topic of digitalization in rural areas, using Bad Belzig as an example, particularly related to activities in the Smart City or Smart Village domain. The main areas of interest are the challenges and opportunities that arise in creating and maintaining a Smart City or Smart Village in rural areas. This encompasses the unique prerequisites for digitalization in the form of rural digital infrastructures, including physical, technical, structural, and spatial changes associated with it. It also explores the changes that digitalization and the opportunities it creates bring to the city of Bad Belzig, its residents, and potentially the surrounding rural area. What organizational and process changes might accompany this? What initiatives have emerged? How does (city) life change? How does the rural area potentially change? What are the positive and negative experiences?

Time: 2:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Meeting Point: at the Town Hall
Guide: Frank Friedrich, City of Bad Belzig, Digitalization Department (supported by stakeholders from the Smart City Initiative)

Notes
Due to the language abilities of our guides, the event will be conducted in German. Please wear appropriate clothing for the Infrastructure Walk, as it may be quite cool by the end of November. We will spend a longer time outdoors during the first part of the event as long as it is still daylight. The second part of the event will take place indoors with heating. There will be a reminder before the event, and travel details will be updated if necessary. The event is organized by Gabriela Christmann.
